Hannibal Rising

Spotlight Project: Hannibal Rising

Spotlight Project The story of the early, murderous roots of the cannibalistic killer, Hannibal Lecter – from his hard-scrabble Lithuanian childhood, where he witnesses the repulsive lengths to which hungry soldiers will go to satiate themselves, through his sojourn in France, where as a med student he hones his appetite for the kill.

Before I start with this update, today would have been Gaspard’s 38th birthday. It’s still hard to believe he’s gone.. Bon anniversaire mon cher Gaspard. Tu nous manques tellement.

Going back, as I fill up the films & television sections of the gallery, I thought I’d add some sort of feature to the site, Spotlight Projects. I will be featuring a film or series of Gaspard’s to highlight at the top part of the main site, which will also include shortcut links to related images to the project, such as posters, production stills, and screen captures.

First up, I thought it would be the perfect one to start with, is Hannibal Rising. This marked as his first major English-language role, wherein he stepped into the character of a young Hannibal Lecter. Gaspard’s performance was generally praised by critics. How did you like the film? What are your favorite parts of the film? Feel free to share your thought down at the comments. I have some good stuff to add to the gallery related to this project, but for now, I have added some promotional photos that Gaspard did, along with some stills from the early scenes of the movie. Keep an eye out on our gallery and our socials (Twitter & Instagram) for more updates.

Gaspard’s final film Plus que jamais (More Than Ever) had its premiere last night at the 75th Cannes Film Festival in the Un Certain Regard section. It was definitely one of the emotional moments of the festival as the team was greeted with long minutes of applause. The first batch of official photos from the movie has been released, you can check them out in our gallery. The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on November 9th.

I have updated the In Memoriam section of the gallery with some scans from magazines/newspapers that have dedicated pages to pay tribute to Gaspard after his untimely passing. Please feel free to donate scans if you have some that are not included here, these are all I could find so far. Additionally, if some of you are willing to help translate these articles from French to English for a future press archive here on the site, kindly contact me! I’ll give credit where it’s due, of course. You can reach out through the contact form, on the site Twitter, or on Instagram, thank you.

This week’s episode of Moon Knight was dedicated to Gaspard as he finally appeared as Anton Mogart, also known as Midnight Man in the comics. It wasn’t that long of a screen time, but it was definitely remarkable. Those who got to screen the show’s first four episodes confirmed that Gaspard isn’t in next week’s episode. It’s unclear whether he’ll appear again in the last two, but here’s hoping he will, even in just a post-credits scene. Anyway, I have updated the gallery with the episode stills and the behind-the-scenes photo of Gaspard that Marvel released. Also included in the update are 300+ screen captures in 4k quality!
